Do you have the ability, strength, ingenuity or sheer stubbornness to survive in a world without modern conveniences? A world where magic is for a few, where elves walk freely, and where pestilent winds escape the fortress in the North and lay waste to the land in droves.

The year is FA 480, amidst the height of the biggest conflict Middle-earth has ever faced against the Deceiver Morgoth. The Free Peoples of Middle-earth are falling to ruin. The remnant of the Ñoldor wander aimlessly in the hills or secret themselves away in the hidden cities. The Edain are under constant assault from the Easterlings and the world itself is on the verge of collapse under Morgoth's shadow.

All seems lost, and hope fades with every passing season.

But in the midst of the darkness something strange happens. People begin to arrive from different times, places and universes. Do they come to aid the Good that is left in the world, or will they join forces with Morgoth and destroy all that is left of the land? The Arrivals have the ability to tip the balance of power and in their struggle to adapt to a hostile, foreign land they must come together to survive or break apart and send the world to its absolute ruin. The People of Middle-earth can only hope that they come to help the besieged world win its hopeless war.

Just wanted to let you know that we're only requiring writing samples for first characters. :) So if you apply for more than one, you don't have to write samples for the others.

If I'm reading the rules right, Glorfindel's not eligible, but how many holds can one person start with?

Glorfindel isn't available yet, but he will be eventually. It's a plot that's going to happen after a bit.

But you can have four holds. :D

I'm bringing the bunny! Possibly another one too. I have to think about it, I'm bouncing around a couple of ideas. Like I told Iggy I don't know much about Tolkien. I read The Lord of the Rings Trilogy but that's it so be gentle with me!

You don't have to know a thing about it! We've set it up so that there are...guides who are nice and who you can ask about anything you need. :)

Awesome! That makes me feel better. I'm thinking about holding another character but I'm not sure who yet. I want someone I haven't played before.

I know that feeling. This journal is one of my new muses that I've never played before, and I've never played Aragorn before either. Sometimes it feels great just to start with someone new.
